Alumni Vision

What is the magic of the Field Academy? What does the world need right now? How can we create the just and healthy world we believe in? These were some of the questions we grappled with at our 2018 Field Academy Community Jam.
Here's some of what we envision:
  • A clear desire to continue running summer trips that explore different regions and critical issues;
  • A drive to expand accessibility (financial, regional, and otherwise) for all students;
  • The formation of an activist alumni network that continues building skills to empower the voices of young adults and support campaigns for justice around this country;
  • A peer-to-peer mentoring network within this alumni body;
  • A podcast and/or regular digital publication of "stories from the Field" so that more people can stay connected and learn from and with our students, alumni, teachers, and partners;
  • Annual or bi-annual Jams or other gatherings of alumni, plus regional gatherings to help sustain connections;
  • More skill-building to support youth leadership, organizing, civic engagement, and activism;
  • Even more emphasis on wellness, tools and practices for self-care, sustainability, self-awareness, and building healthy relationships;
  • A desire for student-designed experience and unscheduled, spontaneous time during programs;
  • A firm commitment to justice as a core focus of our work (internally for our organization and across our programs and curriculum)
The Field Academy is a tax exempt 501(c)3 entity committed to innovative and rigorous travel-based education for high school students.  All donations made are tax-refundable and are managed with respect and integrity.  We are immensely grateful for the encouragement and investment of every donor and partner.
