Student facilitator job description

The Field Academy is hiring alumni to help facilitate our programs for adults/educators. Woohoo! Below is a full list of programs and the opportunities available for our alumni. If you’re interested in applying for any openings, please send a short cover letter to Heather (heather@fieldacademy.org) that explains your interest, the particular program you’re interested in, and any skills or experiences of yours that you think are particularly relevant.

The programs

Educator Retreats & workshops

1) "Education for Social Change: The Role of Field-Based Education in Building Social Movements"
Dates: April 18-21
Location: Wayfinder School, New Gloucester, Maine
For educators from school and non-school settings who seek to both share and learn tools, skills, and techniques for engaging students about complex social and environmental issues. Learn more about this retreat here.

2) “Field-based Curriculum Design for School Settings”
Dates: April 28-May 3
Location: Berkeley and Danville, California
For educators working in school settings of all kinds (public, private, charter, independent, homeschool, vocational, etc.) who want to work within their framework to develop innovative field-based curricula. Learn more about this workshop here.

3) “Field-based Education: Young Educator Camp for College Students and Recent College Graduates”
Dates: July 5-11
Location: Knoll Farm, Waitsfield, Vermont
For college students and recent college graduates who are interested in working in education, but are looking for alternative ways of teaching and learning, and who are seeking inspiration, connection, and skills! Learn more about this retreat here.

Fundraising event

1) “A Day in the Field” Fundraising Weekend
Dates: May 30-31
Location: Portland, ME
This fundraiser will spend a day learning about the Gulf of Maine and the ecological and social communities that form around lobsters. That night, we’ll have a lobster bake and cookout on the shores of Casco Bay and the next morning we’ll have an optional photo scavenger hunt in the city of Portland! This will be a chance for Field Academy students, staff, board, and supporters to get to know each other, experience Field Academy education, and celebrate! Learn more about this event here.

Alumni opportunities

1) EDUCATOR PROGRAM CO-FACILITATORS
We’re looking for one to two alumni facilitators who can join our facilitation teams for the full educator programs as paid staff. See complete job description here. We’re also interested in having alumni visit the program as guest facilitators. 

2) FUNDRAISING EVENT CO-FACILITATORS
We’re looking for 1-2 alumni to join us on Friday afternoon (May 29) for planning and prep, and then all day Saturday and Sunday until noon. Any and all alumni who would like are invited for dinner Saturday night and welcome to stay Sunday until noon.

3) BE A PARTICIPANT!
July Educator Retreat: “Field-based Education: Young Educator Camp for College Students and Recent College Graduates”
If you are in in college or just out of college and you're interested in learning how to teach in the Field Academy style, join us as a participant at our July Retreat!  Any Field Academy alumni can participate for a significantly reduced rate.

Fundraising Event: "A Day in the Field"
Any and all alumni are invited to join us for a Field Academy discussion, an awesome lobster bake dinner on Saturday night, and are welcome to stay Sunday until noon. Camping will be available!
